Hello
Hello, I’m Rhi Cook, a registered midwife with a passion for calm, personalised support and providing evidence based information empowering positive experience.
For over 10 years, I’ve supported women and birthing people through pregnancy, birth, and those delicate early weeks of new parenthood. I started The Midwife’s Cwtch because I saw a real need for personalised, flexible, and holistic support in our beautiful Welsh communities.
As a midwife, I believe birth and early parenthood are deeply personal journeys; not medical events to be rushed through. I bring evidence-based knowledge, professional experience, and a warm, grounded approach to everything I do.
My Story
My Background
I'm a local gal - born in Nevill Hall Hospital, went to Llangattock Primary School and Crickhowell High School. Following this, I trained to be a Registered Midwife (NMC) at Cardiff University with most clinical training in Nevill Hall Hospital. I have experience in both hospital care antenatally, in labour and postnatally and most recently community settings supporting women and their families.
I’ve worked with hundreds of families from all walks of life, and I understand the highs, lows, fears, and triumphs of bringing a new baby into the world.
Why I Started This Service
Living near Abergavenny, I realised how many expectant parents felt isolated, rushed, or unsure during this life-changing transition. Antenatal classes were far away, and postnatal support ended too soon.
That’s why I offer:
• One-on-one support from the beginning of pregnancy through the early months
• Practical classes and emotional support
• Gentle continuity of support - someone who knows your story
A Bit About Me Personally
I met my husband at University where we were both members of the A Cappella Society! We now live in Little Mill with our 3 year old daughter, and when I’m not supporting families, you’ll find me walking the fields, forests and mountains nearby (usually with a neighbours dog), listening to a good audiobook (unfortunately reading isn’t the easiest with a feral 3 year old about!), or drinking a lovely cup of tea.
My Values
• Informed choice
• Compassionate care
• Respect for every birth story
If you’re looking for grounded, non-judgmental support throughout your parenting journey, I’d love to walk it with you.
